Installation Guide: Steps and Running Boards
- Socket set and wrenches
- Screwdrivers
- Drill (if required for your kit)
- Torque wrench
- Safety glasses and gloves
- Park your vehicle on a flat, stable surface.
- Lay out all parts from the kit to confirm everything is included.
- Review the manufacturer's instructions carefully; steps can vary depending on your truck's make and model.
- Most modern vehicles have factory-drilled holes: for running boards or steps. Look along the frame or rocker panels for pre-threaded mounting points. Using these will minimize or eliminate drilling.
- Position the brackets on the identified mounting points.
- Hand-tighten the bolts first to allow for adjustments.
- Ensure brackets are evenly aligned from front to rear.
- Pro Tip: Use a level or tape measure to double-check spacing before fully tightening.
- Place the running boards or steps onto the brackets.
- Secure with the provided hardware, again tightening by hand at first.
- Once everything is properly aligned, use a torque wrench to tighten bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.
- Step on the boards gently to test stability.
- Check for any loose hardware and retighten if necessary.
- Ensure the boards sit evenly and do not interfere with doors opening or closing.
- Follow Instructions Closely: Kits are vehicle-specific, so always rely on the manufacturer's guide.
- Double-Check Alignment: Uneven boards are noticeable and may cause stress on the brackets.
- Tighten All Bolts Securely: Proper torque ensures safety and longevity.
- Periodic Maintenance: Recheck bolts every few months, especially if driving in rough conditions.
